5 Star Wars Characters That Deserve Their Own Video Game

Tired of seeing the same old characters in Star Wars games? We are, too. Not that mowing enemies down as Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker isn’t awesome. And we really do love Kyle Katarn and Revan, but I think it’s time for something new. There’s a mess of characters in the Expanded Universe that haven’t received their fair share of the action. Hopefully, Disney will start to take advantage of the huge cast of awesome characters in this franchise.

For your fanboy pleasure, here’s a list of five Star Wars characters that should get their own game!

1. Corran Horn

Besides getting a few small mentions in Rogue Squadron and Jedi Academy, everyone’s favorite X-Wing pilot turned Jedi hasn’t gotten the time of day from video game developers. Corran, a Corellian, was not only one of the best pilots in the New Republic era, but also earned himself the title of Jedi Master. Corran had one of the most awesome duels in The New Jedi Order series, going head to head against the Yuuzhan Vong commander Shedao Shai, as the planet of Ithor burned around them. I’d love to see a new Jedi Knight game starring Corran.

2. Anakin, Jacen & Jaina Solo

It seems silly that the Solo children haven’t been in any of the video games yet. They’ve starred in more than enough Expanded Universe things to make them obvious choices for a game. For one thing, all three of these characters face crippling tragedies that change their lives forever. For one thing, Jacen becomes a Sith Lord in the Legacy of the Force series, and his twin sister, Jaina, is forced to hunt him down and kill him. Anakin never even makes it that far, sacrificing himself to save his aunt, Mara Jade Skywalker, during the Yuuzhan Vong War. These kids play such a huge part in Star Wars lore, and it’s about time they get a chance at digital fame.

3. Lumiya, Dark Lady of the Sith

Lumiya has been an agent of evil for so long, yet no one ever seems to see her coming. A master of deceit, she was originally introduced as a TRIPLE agent: an Emperor’s Hand who was secretly a Shadow Hand (Lord Vader’s secret order of assassins in preparation to overthrow the Emperor) who was an Imperial spy embedded within the Rebel Alliance under Luke Skywalker. After the fall of the Empire and the presumed death of the remaining Sith, Lumiya inherited the title of Dark Lady of the Sith. She would eventually strike during the Legacy of the Force series, turning Jacen Solo to the dark side and dismantling the Galactic Federation. Oh, and her lightsaber is also a whip. The Force Unleashedshould’ve probably starred Lumiya...

4. Quinlan Vos

The legend goes that Jedi Master Quinlan Vos tripped so hard on some illegal drugs from Naboo that he turned to the dark side. Fighting for both the Jedi and the Sith during the Clone Wars, Quinlan was finally able to find peace with the Force and return to the light side. He was one of the few survivors of the Great Jedi Purge on Kashyyyk. It’s pretty surprising that Starkiller didn’t go after him during The Force Unleashed, but then again, the Jedi Master was lying pretty low post-Clone Wars. Still, a video game would be a perfect opportunity for Master Vos to come out of retirement. Plus, he looks just like the Prince of Persia, so win win.

5. Admiral Ackbar

No, but seriously, how come one of Star Wars’ most iconic heroes doesn’t have his own RTS? It’s a TRAP!: The Ackbar Story would be a great way to cash in on this character, as well as reintroduce real-time strategy to the Star Wars universe. He’s been in pretty much every war ever, so EA could cover A LOT of ground with the Admiral. The RTS could serve as a companion piece to the new Battlefront game from DICE. The only wrong thing to do is NOT to do it.
