There's a new Ouya in town!
The creators of Ouya are rolling out a brand new version of the console with 16GB of storage and a price tag of $129.99. You can pick up the new console on Ouya's website.
"Ouya 2.0" arrives on co-founder Julie Uhrman's promise that the company would provide a yearly hardware upgrade for their console.
Uhrman told Polygon last October that, "We're not a traditional gaming company that comes out every six or seven years with a new console. We made it very clear that we're going to have a yearly refresh on the product, that we're going to continue to improve the performance, leveraging components that are on the market. We may never be first to market with those. We want to make sure we come to market when it justifies being on a different chip or higher performing chip."
Ouya has yet to make a real impact in the console market, but Ouya 2.0 might be a step towards the future as its Android OS continues to improve and more games become available on the system.
This new Ouya borrows the 16GB hard drive from last year's limited edition white version. It also includes a "refined" controller and better wifi connectivity. These new features seem like major fixes to problems with the original console.
Of course, you can still get the $99 8GB Ouya, as well.
