After a long six month delay, we’ll finally get to start hacking the world in Watch Dogs this May.
They often say that good things come to those who wait, and for Watch Dogs fans, that wait is almost over now. Eurogamer has reported today that a leaked game trailer on Xbox.com has revealed the official release date of Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs to be May 27, 2014. Prior to this, many retailers had been listing the new date of Watch Dogs as June 30, after some mistaken information popped up on the Sony Store’s official preorder game page. So it’s nice to see that we’ll be getting the game a little bit sooner than expected.
Originally scheduled to release back in November alongside the launch of the PS4 and Xbox One consoles, Ubisoft unexpectedly delayed the game at the last minute and pushed it back to the spring of 2014 in order to give it some more time in development. It certainly couldn’t have been an easy decision to make, especially with how many console launch-day bundles the game was included in, but if those extra six months are going to give us a more polished version now, then I have to say that I’m all for it.

An official announcement from Ubisoft will be made later on today, presumably alongside the reposting of the new game trailer. We can also assume that the May 27 release will apply to all versions of Watch Dogs aside from Wii U, which Ubisoft has already confirmed to be releasing at a later date than other consoles in 2014.
