Retro gamers rejoice! Warner Bros. has officially announced a reboot of Gauntlettoday, the popular old-school dungeon crawling co-op game. Arrowhead Game Studios will be handling the development duties, who have already made a name for themselves with the acclaimed 2011 release of Magicka. And yes, before you even ask, 4-player local and online cooperative play has already been confirmed to be included!
Needless to say, the announcement gameplay trailer of the Gauntletreboot looks glorious, and the new visual style seems to be in line with the series’ final outings in 2000’s Gauntlet: Dark Legacyand 2005’s Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows, albeit much more sharp and polished. Classic returning character classes are said to include the warrior, the wizard, the valkyrie, and the elf, while the dungeons themselves will be filled with ghosts, spiders, skeletons, and all sorts of other deadly monsters.
The completely new and modernized version of Gauntletwill be available for PC at some point this summer on Steam, and we couldn’t be more excited to jump back into the fold.
