"Project Comet" is reportedly a direct sequel to Black Flag, and we'll get to sail the seas as a Templar.

Those guys at Kotaku are busy policing the video game rumor mill, and since they were right about Assassin's Creed: Unity, I'm obliged to post the newest rumor: a new title for last-gen consoles called Assassin's Creed: Comet will be a direct sequel to Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. And it will star a Templar agent named Shay. Yeah, we get to sail the seas with the bad guys this Fall.

Of course, Kotaku is getting its rumors from French video game site GameBlog. Redditor GalakFyarr translated into English, and Kotaku verified the translation.

According to the report from GameBlog, the game will take place in 1758 New York and is rumored to be called Assassin’s Creed: Comet. Halley’s Comet made its appearance in 1759. The whole comet thing makes me think this will bring that pesky Juno back into the fold. That jerk.

Comet will likely be the last installment in the series for last-gen consoles as Unity moves on to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

This is from Kotaku: "[The game will also let you] do a great deal of sailing along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. One source describes the game as a cross between Assassin's Creed 3 and the Freedom Cry DLC for Assassin's Creed 4. Sources also say that Haytham Kenway and Adewalé will make appearances, among other returning AC characters."

Gamers are definitely within their right to call this game a cash grab. It seems that we're going from one game a year to two...Last year saw the release of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation, after all. This could be the new trend...Two Assassin's Creed games this Fall, one for each generation of consoles, which means you better have one of each to play them. But you wouldn't care about this series if you didn't, right?

I'm pretty confused about all this, honestly. We'll have more news for you as we learn it.
