A director is found and Ridley Scott is set to produce a new 'digital feature' based on the Halo series...
Once upon a time, the videogame series Halo was to be brought to the big screen by Peter Jackson, with District 9 and Elysium helmer Neill Blomkamp directing. The plug was eventually pulled on that over budget concerns, and since then, there's been little obvious sign that a Halo film was being resurrected. Instead, a live action TV series, being produced by Steven Spielberg, is planned for the end of this year.
However, The Wrap is now reporting that a Halo'digital feature' is on the way, and that Ridley Scott is set to produce it. Furthermore, a director has been hired, with Sergio Mimica-Gezzan set to oversee the project. He's directed episodes of shows such as Battlestar Galactica and Heroes in the past.
A 'digital feature' doesn't sound to us like a full-on movie, certainly not one that's likely to see the inside of a cinema. Our guess is it's effectively a television movie, albeit one to be made available over the Xbox's streaming services. That said, Microsoft is set to release further details of the project at E3 in June. It's separate from the Spielberg TV show, that much is known, and the main focus will not be the Master Chief character.
More on this one as we hear it.

God let it be Reach. I'd love to see what else was going on with other Spartan deployments other than Nobel team. It should have the Spartan II's at the least.
