The long-delayed PS4 game will finally get to burn some rubber this fall.
Sony has officially unveiled the release date for PlayStation 4 exclusive Driveclubtoday, via a new trailer that shows off some more of the game’s gorgeous cars and racing gameplay. And now players will finally be able to race alongside their friends on October 8, 2014.
Driveclubhas been in development by Evolution Studios, the same team that brought us the PS3 exclusive off-road racing series, MotorStorm. It was first announced during the big PS4 reveal in February 2014, and will now see the light of day almost one year after its initial release date.
The game’s development period has caused a bit of concern over the past several months. Originally slated to be a PS4 launch title in November 2013, Driveclubsuffered a last-minute delay to the beginning of 2014. But then the game was delayed even further, after Sony revealed that the development team needed to “go back to the drawing board” and reassess a few of the game’s core mechanics.
So who’s excited for that October release date? To be honest, it’s actually a lot sooner than I had expected given all the recent talk of delays, so I’m more than stoked to finally get behind the wheel of this new generation of racing games.
