Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have confirmed Batman: Arkham Origins' multiplayer mode.
The online component will allow players to play as Batman or Robin against friends and other gamers online. Players are also able to play as a super-villain elite, siding with the Joker or Bane, and can also play as The Joker and Bane themselves. From the sounds of it, the matches will be 3v3v2.
The online multiplayer (shown in the trailer below) will blend traditional Arkham gameplay and third-person shooter mechanics. The online mode will be available when the game launches on October 25, 2013. And, according to the press release, the online mode will only be available for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360; the Wii U was omitted from the press release. Will the Wii U be getting the online mode? According to the press release, no, but we've reached out for clarification and will provide an update when we know for sure.
As if we needed another reason to be excited about Batman: Arkham Origins.
