Get ready to see Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine in all of the 1080p glory of current gen!
Capcom has announced today that the 2002 Gamecube remake of the original 1996 Resident Evil game will be getting an additional remake for current and last generation home consoles. In the now classic game, players assume the role of either S.T.A.R.S. team member Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine, and quickly find themselves trapped in a maniacal mansion during a rescue mission gone wrong.
So what’s new in this second remake of one of the greatest survival horror games around? Well for starters, enhanced resolution will bump up the graphics into 1080p territory on current generation consoles, and the sound effects have been fully remastered with 5.1 surround support. What’s more, the newResident Evil will also feature a 16:9 widescreen mode, as well as an alternate control scheme. Of course, the classic view and controls will also still be available as options for the old-school crowd.

The re-remake of Resident Evil will be available as a digital download in early 2015, for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Mac. You can check out a few more of the beautiful remastered visuals just below.
