Not only does Visceral's Battlefield Hardline have a new release date -- March 17 -- but we now know the approximate release dates for the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefrontand the next Battlefield game.
EA announced that Battlefront, which is in development at DICE, will arrive Holiday 2015, around the same time as J.J. Abram's Episode VII. Makes sense.
Battlefield 5 (?) will arrive Fall 2016. Whether DICE is working on this installment or its up to Visceral again isn't clear. The yearly cycle does seem to have been broken after Battlefield Hardline was delayed. Is this a good thing?
It's also important to mention that BioWare and Visceral are also working on Star Wars properties, as detailed in the EA exclusive deal with Disney. Visceral is reportedly working on an open-world game, written by Uncharted veteran Amy Hennig. It does seem clear that BioWare's portion of the weight is its continued work on Star Wars: The Old Republic, which is getting a new expansion that focuses on Revan, the protagonist of their award-winning Knights of the Old Republic.
