Coming this year to Wii U, the latest gameplay trailer for RPG sequel Xenoblade Chronicles X shows off its exotic alien world...
TrailerThe Wii was party to some excellent J-RPGs, and Xenoblade Chronicles was among the best. And after what feels like a lengthy wait, an expansive sequel's coming to the Wii U this year.
Like the original, Xenoblade Chronicles X takes place in an open world, but the one Monolith Soft have put together for its sequel looks impressively detailed. Taking place on a planet called Mira, the game offers an exotic landscape of flying creatures, lumbering giants and bizarre fauna.
The breadth of what Monolith have been making is shown off in a brand new gameplay trailer, unveiled as part of the first Nintendo Direct broadcast of the year. It provides a bare-bones overview of the plot - humanity carves out a new society on a far-off planet, but mostly serves as a fresh peek into the world Monolith have created. There's a few instances of objects popping into view, but they're a small price to pay, we'd suggest, if the action can flow as seamlessly from place to place as the trailer implies.
Xenoblade Chronicles X is out this year. When we have a firm release date, we'll pass it along.
