The first developer diary for Star Wars: Battlefront gives a brief behind the scenes look at EA's shooter...

Odd things, developer diaries. Sometimes, they give us a look at the creative process behind our most anticipated games. At others, they feel more like extended adverts with a bit of commentary over the top.

EA DICE's first developer diary for the eagerly-awaited Star Wars: Battlefront leans more towards the latter category, if we're being honest, but there are a couple of things that make it worth two-and-a-bit minutes of your time. First, it shows just how much access the design team got when Lucasfilm opened up its Star Wars archives - not only did they get to handle and photograph original props from the series, but also things like matt paintings - one shot sees DICE's guys taking pictures of the original Death Star.

For now, this is the closest we have to a look at the game itself. Is EA holding back a reveal of the gameplay until E3 in June? More than likely.

Star Wars: Battlefront is out on the Nov. 17 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
