Nintendo's new trailer for Super Mario Maker shows how you can build your own challenging and very strange courses...
Trailer"Think you know Mario?" asks the new trailer for Super Mario Maker, the forthcoming release that aims to be the Wii U's answer to LittleBigPlanet.
Since we last played Nintendo's Mario level designer last year, it's quite startling how far it's come: now, it offers an unexpectedly varied suite of tools and elements from the plumber's side-scrolling adventures. After taking us on a nostalgic trip through Mario's past, the trailer below shows how familiar course designs from the past can be spiced up in challenging and sometimes anarchic ways.
Simply put, there isn't any kind of limit to the number of enemies, obstacles, or platforms you can place in any one stage design, and the results can be very strange indeed. We had a quick demo of Super Mario Maker last month, and can attest that the drag-and-drop method of putting your stage designs together really is as simple and intuitive as the trailer implies.
Super Mario Maker is out on Sept. 11 for the Wii U.
