The yodeling ninja matador with the faceplate and claw now adds a pirate shirt to his ensemble as he cuts and suplexes everyone in his way.
TrailerIf M. Bison’s white hair is supposed to mean that the cast of Street Fighter V is older, it’s good to see that the token handsome guy has aged gracefully. But grace has been what Vega’s all about since first appearing as the second boss in Street Fighter II. The cage fighter is confirmed for Street Fighter V, making him the ninth announced character and eighth returning.
We can see him fighting it out with the not-so-handsome newcomer Necalli in this trailer where he shows off his swagtastic new shirt that he bought off Jerry Seinfeld.
A cornucopia of crazy design ideas, Vega (otherwise known as Balrog in Japan and Claw by the fighting game community) has always been very popular. A flippy narcissist who wears a mask to guard his face, Vega is a ninja armed with a single Wolverine-like claw. As the story goes, his ugly step-father abused and murdered his mother, which drove him to hate all ugly people. He grew up to become a good-looking assassin who mixed ninjitsu with his training as a matador. When he isn’t killing people for M. Bison as a member of Shadaloo, he unwinds by slaughtering fools in cage fights.
As shown in the trailer, Vega can fight with or without the claw. All the earlier Street Fighter games made it so that removing the claw (as well as the mask) would make Vega less fearsome until he could pick them up off the ground. Here, the lack of claw really just opens him up for more moves, meaning that there is no true advantage to disarming him.
Street Fighter V will be released in March 2016 for PS4 and PC.
