WWE rosters of yesterday, today, and tomorrow battle it out for supremacy, but it's Stone Cold who truly reigns supreme.

Trailer

2K Sports’ WWE 2K16 is coming out at the end of next month. Being an annual series, there isn’t much to the new installment other than the usual bells and whistles. Outside of some variations of the otherwise familiar gameplay (namely the limited number of reversals), there are essentially three selling points of the new game. These three points make up the new trailer.

In fact, those three points are showcased one after the other. Kind of cut-and-dry, really.

Among the kickass visuals and Audioslave soundtrack, three major things are shown off:

First, there’s the roster. Not only do we have a bunch of the modern roster that we’d recognize, but there’s a whole lot of past and future to go with it. Guys like Bret Hart, Diamond Dallas Page, and Bam Bam Bigelow join NXT names like Finn Balor, the Vaudevillains, Enzo & Cass, and so on to give us a roster of over 120 names. It’s the biggest roster of any WWE game.

But then the game’s coverboy steps in. It’s Stone Cold Steve Austin, and he isn’t just another name on the list. For the past several years, the WWE 2K series has featured modes based on reliving the past. We’ve had games based on the Attitude Era, WrestleManiahistory, long-lasting rivalries, and now the career of Steve Austin. You can relive everything from him teaming up with Brian Pillman in WCW to fighting Mikey Whipreck in ECW to kicking all the ass in late-90s WWF.

Finally, there’s the pre-order bonus as the stinger. We’ve known for a while that Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator is DLC, but now we get to see two versions of him in action. At least in terms of entrances. You have both the T-800 from the first movie, showing up via time travel, thankfully with underwear on. Then there’s the Judgment Day T-800, who has already stolen some clothes and a motorcycle before heading to the ring.

WWE 2K16 comes out on October 27 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
