NewsDeep down you knew this day would always come. It might seem early but the hour was inevitable: ladies and gentlemen, we have a trailer for the Angry Birds movie.
Admittedly, one fights the urge to turn as red as the central character voiced by Jason Sudeikis at this movie’s prospect—how can they make an Angry Birds movie?! But you must recall that you probably once said the same thing about that Lego Movie, and it was one of the biggest mainstream hits, with both families and critics, of 2014. So sure, Angry Birds. Why not?
In the new trailer, you will meet Red (Sudeikis), a sad sack Angry Bird that life has always left holding the bag. He’s pals with other equal also-flew birds too like Chuck (Josh Gad) and Bomb (Danny McBride). But when evil pigs, including minions voiced by Bill Hader, arrive with the plan of taking over the birds’ habitats… well sometimes, it pays to get a little angry.
Angry Birds is developed by Sony Pictures’ animation house (which gave us Hotel Transylvania) and is directed by first-timers Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly, but keep in mind that between them they have credits on Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, and Hotel Transylvania. The film also features the voices of Maya Rudolph, Kate McKinnon, and Peter Dinklage. The movie flies the coup and enters theaters on May 20, 2016.
