Star Wars Battlefront: Battle of Jakku Gameplay Trailer

Star Wars Battlefront gets a bit of free DLC this month to celebrate the release of The Force Awakens. That DLC is called The Battle of Jakku and it includes two maps set in the new desert planet from the upcoming film. The new DLC will shed some light on the iconic battle that took place 29 years before the Sequel Trilogy and saw the final fall of the Empire.

The Battle of Jakku DLC arrives on Dec. 8 for PS4, XBO, and PC. And it's totally free!

It says a lot about Star Wars' allure that EA can create so much interest with relatively tiny snippets of footage. Take out the logos, pre-order details, and other bits of garnish from the trailer below, and it probably only amounts to about 18 seconds of proper, retina-grabbing imagery. 

Fortunately, those 18 seconds are worth having a gander at. They tease the fabled Battle of Jakku - the battle which takes place 29 years before the events of The Force Awakens, as the Empire suffers its final death throes. In short, Star Wars Battlefront will show us the moment where the big Star Destroyer we keep seeing in the film trailers actually crashes into the desert planet.

Interestingly enough, we've only received snippets of the climactic battle so far, and they all come from the new books. Star Wars: Aftermath gave us our first look of the planet in a short interlude that described Jakku as "a dead place." Another novel, Lost Stars, also tackles the Battle of Jakku. But Battlefrontwill be the first time we see this battle on screen, and we get to participate!

As you're probably aware by now, Star Wars Battlefront is out on the Nov. 17 for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One. We've a feeling quite a number of people will purchase a copy.
