The developer behind Transformers: Devastation, Bayonetta, and Metal Gear Rising is set to make a Ninja Turtles game. Cowabunga...
NewsEarlier this year, the developer behind such brawler delights as Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising managed to do that most unusual of things: they made a genuinely decent game out of the Transformers property. Transformers: Devastationwasn't necessarily big in the way of tactics or subtlety, but it was intuitive, slick, and made with a clear affection for the G1 toys and TV series.
Flushed with the success of that game, Platinum Games is turning its attention to another much-loved property: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The news comes courtesy of the Australian Classification Board (via VG247), which has revealed Platinum's involvement and also the game's full title: it's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, and it's being made for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
The game will be published through Activision, so it seems likely that we'll be in for another fighting game in the mould of Transformers: Devastation. We still have fond memories of Konami's old Ninja Turtles four-player coin-op, so if it's even vaguely similar to that, we'll be very happy bunnies. Or turtles.
More news on this as we get it.
