Hideo Kojima's 1998 classic Metal Gear Solid is getting a fan-made remake built in Unreal 4. Check out Shadow Moses...
Following Hideo Kojima's parting from Konami after more than 30 years, exactly where the Metal Gear franchise goes next is now anyone's guess. Will it survive without its creator steering the ship?
In the meantime, talented fan Airam Hernandez has dedicated his time to remaking the game that launched Solid Snake into the stratosphere.
Called Shadow Moses, the project brings the 1998 Metal Gear Solidinto the 21st century, with the Unreal 4 engine underpinning its realistic lighting effects and more detailed environments. Given just how much affection there is for the first 3D Metal Gear game, it's somewhat surprising that Konami haven't attempted to remake the thing themselves.
Shadow Moses isn't finished yet, but what Hernandez has achieved so far looks pretty remarkable. The question is, will Konami let the remake go ahead once they get wind of it? We'll keep you posted on the story as we hear more. In the meantime, you can follow the game's progress on Facebook.
