Destiny will explore the fate of the Iron Lords in a new expansion called Rise of Iron. Here's the debut trailer...
Bungie has announced a new expansion for its online multiplayer shooter, Destiny. The expansion is called Rise of Iron and will explore the story of the Iron Lords, as players follow Lord Saladin on a quest to defeat a dark enemy beyond the Cosmodrome.
Bits and pieces of lore regarding the Iron Lords have been teased since the game launched in 2014, but the next expansion will be the first time players will be able to truly dive into the Plaguelands, where the last of the Iron Lords must eradicate a threat beyond the Wall, the same threat that killed all of his comrades.
Rise of Iron will add new story missions, strike content, a new raid, new equipment, an elevated light value cap, a new social area, and the return of the Gjallarhorn. A new enemy faction and bosses, as well as new Crucible maps will be added with the expansion. One new enemy you'll encounter is a cyborg-mutant version of the game's Fallen baddies!
Here is the expansion's cinematic trailer:
Rise of Iron is only coming to current-gen consoles. PS3 and X360 users will have to upgrade to XBO and PS4 to get the expansion. The expansion is out on Sept. 20. It will cost $30.
