Death Stranding Latest News
Speaking at the Develop: Brighton conference, Hideo Kojima expressed his belief that Death Stranding represents his greatest work.
"I'm very confident that we're working towards something completely new and that no-one has seen so far,” said Kojima. “This will be my best work so far, I'm very confident about that."
At this same event, Kojima also spoke of how excited he is about the ability of virtual reality to convey a new range of human emotions in video games. At this time, however, there is no word on whether or not Death Stranding will have VR features. Kojima also noted that he could never stop making video games because, as technology progresses, he comes closer to being able to make the type of games he dreams of.
In a recent YouTube upload by Hideo Kojima, the legendary developer also shared some information regarding the secrecy that surrounded Death Stranding's unveiling. According to Kojima, only about five people knew that the game was going to be revealed at E3 2016. In order to avoid any potential leaks, Kojima himself also avoided social media, refrained from taking photos and even stayed at an out of the way hotel during E3 just to avoid being spotted.
Kojima also noted that Death Stranding is very close to being in full production. Currently, the team is deciding which engine they will use to complete the project.
Death Stranding Release Date
Death Stranding will be a PS4 exclusive title. No release date was announced.
Death Stranding Trailer
We all wondered what Hideo Kojima had in store for the gaming world next, and our questions were answered when the first trailer for Death Stranding hit the PS4 press conference screen. What is the game about or what are we even watching in the announcement trailer? The simple answer is "Naked Norman Reedus crying over an invisible ink baby on a beach covered in dead fish and crabs," but as you may already know, nothing is simple when it comes to a Kojima creation.
Take a look for yourself:
Yes, that is Norman Reedus of P.T. and The Walking Dead fame, and yes this game does look like a truly weird creation that only Kojima could have possible gifted the world. While we can't discern much from the brief preview beyond the fact that Kojima has not lost his bizarre touch, it's still enough to make us quite impatient for more information regarding this project.
Death Stranding Engine
Hideo Kojima's new game understandably received a lot of attention at E3 2016. Not only did the announcement trailer reveal that Kojima's new game stars Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), it's also one of the most bizarre video game trailers ever. The trailer didn't reveal any actual gameplay, though, and the reason for that is simple: Death Stranding isn't actually in production yet.
According to Kojima, who spoke to Eurogamer at E3, he's still deciding on what engine to use for the game: "We are getting to a very good point about how we are feeling about the visuals so we are very close to making a decision on the game engine. And once that is decided, we will be in full production."
Kojima also revealed that he's considering two specific engines for the game and that the announcement trailer was created using one of the two candidates: "For the new game elements I want to try, you always want to make it and then evaluate and iterate—and those we are doing on the other game engine candidate."
It's a safe assumption that Death Stranding is still a few years away, as Kojima continues hash out the technical stuff. It seems, from the trailer at least, that the concept is fully fleshed out, though. This is going to be one weird game.
