The adventures of Adam Jensen continue on September 23rd.
If you've already made your way through Deus Ex: Mankind Divided's campaign and are eager for more tales of conspiracy, revolution, and body modifications, you'll be thrilled to hear that the game's first piece of story DLC, called System Rift, already has a release date.
On September 23rd, gamers who have previously purchased the Mankind Divided Season Pass or are willing to fork over $12 will be able to access System Rift. This story-based DLC will feature Sarif Industries' very own Frank Pritchard and main protagonist Adam Jensen as the two work to uncover what the notorious Santeau Group are up to. The game's official plot description cites the duo's specific target at a high-security bank called the Palisade Blade which very well hold the truth behind the identity of the Illuminati.
Mankind Divided is set to receive at least one more piece of story DLC dubbed A Criminal Past, which will also be included in the game's Season Pass. Currently, the release date and subject matter of A Criminal Past is unknown, and it has also not been confirmed whether or not that release will be the final story add-on that the game will receive.
In our review of Mankind Divided, we came away impressed by the overall experience on display even if the game did rehash many of the elements that made Human Revolution notable when it was released in 2011. That game's story and writing managed to impress us with the way it rearranged many of Deus Ex's narrative conventions to form something rather exciting, so we're certainly happy to hear that narrative will be continued so soon.
What's going to be more interesting to see is whether or not developer Eidos Montreal chooses to use these DLC releases to expand upon Mankind Divided's gameplay elements. Although the highly familiar action and puzzle sequences that made up the majority of the game didn't drag the entire experience down to the point of being irredeemable, these narrative add-on's can only benefit from the developer's taking a more bold approach to the typical flow of the standard Deus Ex mission.
