The makers of Stasis return with this gorgeous upcoming project.
After shocking gamers everywhere with the 2015 isometric sci-fi horror masterpiece Stasis, the developers at The Brotherhood have certainly earned a little break from their indie game creation duties. Rather than enjoying that rest, however, they have already begun work on a new project known as Beautiful Desolation.
Can this project hope to live up to the intricate splendor of Stasis? Well, it's a little too early in the development process to say with certainty that it will, but if the concept designs featured in the game's announcement trailer are any indication, then all signs currently point to "yes."
Much like Stasis, Beautiful Desolation will be played from an isometric perspective and incorporate similar adventure games elements. Unlike Stasis, Beautiful Disaster takes place in Africa sometime during the post-apocalypse. The Brotherhood are clearly not too eager to go into further details regarding the game's plot at this early juncture, although a line on the game's official website that simply reads "He is not from this place or time..." does seem to indicate there will be some sort of time travelling plot elements at play.
While Beautiful Desolation follows the release of Stasis, according to the game's developers, the idea behind it is one that they've been floating around for quite some time. They opted to push it off to the side in favor of finishing their work on Stasis, but The Brotherood hopes to flesh out their vision with this game that will feature some of the trademark elements of their previous title, but will ultimately be built around its own, unique identity.

As for Stasis, The Brotherood has confirmed that they are still hard at work on a prequel to that game called Cayne. That should be available before the end of the year.
