The Pokemon Company continues to expand their empire in this new trailer.
The Pokemon Company have announced that they will be developing a new animated Pokemon show.
Pokemon Generations will debut on YouTube on September 16th. From there, new three-to-five-minute episodes will continue to release on YouTube on a weekly basis until the first season ends on December 23rd. The first trailer for the show is available below for your viewing pleasure:
According to the show's official description, Pokemon Generations will feature Pokemon and characters from every generation of the game and will "shed new light on some timeless moments." Based on the footage shown thus far, it appears that the series will be an anthology kind of program that bounces between new characters and stories from week to week, but The Pokemon Company has not yet verified if that is indeed the show's format.
Furthermore, it's not quite clear whether or not this show will feature Pokemon and characters from different generations interacting with each other or whether it will honor the existing chronological formats. The show's official poster and concept art do appear to mainly feature characters from the games, along with a few new faces, which also does seem to indicate that the show will mostly focus on expanding upon some of the major events featured in Pokemon games in order to tie together some loose strings in the series' mythology. In fact, some of the moments shown in the trailer appear to simply recreate in-game events in an animated format.
That's a very interesting approach to a Pokemon animated show as so many previous Pokemon animated films and shows chose to craft their own stories rather than strictly work within the franchise mythology established by the games. If this show is able to successfully link all generations of Pokemon together, it could very well prove to be an invaluable resource for fans everywhere.
In any case, it's almost certainly guaranteed to be a major hit.
