Where they're going, you don't need gravity.

Development studio Ready at Dawn (The Order: 1886) have revealed that their next project will be an Oculus Rift exclusive sci-fi title called Lone Echo

Check out its announcement trailer below:

Lone Echo places you into the boots of an astronaut that finds themselves stuck outside of a spaceship following an encounter with an unknown force. The game is already drawing comparisons to the film Gravity in terms of its premise, but there seems to be more of a mythical element at play here. The trailer clearly shows the astronauts have suffered through an unexplainable occurrence as opposed to a mechanical failure, but the nature of this event remains unknown.

What is known based on the hands-on previews of the game, however, is that Lone Echo attempts to combat the dissociation that occurs when you walk in VR games by removing walking altogether. Instead, players will need to use their hands to navigate through zero gravity space as they attempt to repair the ship and find sanctuary. Whether anyone remains to help them in the story mode is a guess at this point, but we do know that the player will be assisted by a welding tool that will be able to cut through specific objects.

Interestingly, Lone Echo also features a multiplayer mode that allows multiple players to attempt to survive these same conditions. It appears that this mode will be similar to the single-player campaign plus or minus a few specific sections.

There's no release date available for Lone Echo, but it's likely that the game will release after or in conjunction with the Oculus touch controls set to arrive on December 6th.
