Developer Io-Interactive has confirmed that the (surprisingly great) recent season of Hitman will come to a close on October 31st with the release of the Situs Inversus mission. If you're looking for a way to kill 30 seconds of time between now and then, we highly recommend checking out the recently released teaser trailer for the final mission included below:

Situs Inversus translates to "inverted placing" in Latin and references an obscure medical condition involving misplaced internal organs. Given that the mission takes place in Hokkaido, Japan at the GAMA private hospital and resort, the translation of that phrase is almost certainly a reference to one of the mission's two targets. Sadly, IO isn't spilling the details quite yet. Thanks to the missions' official press release, however, we do know that the facility contains a "fusion of Japanese beauty and cutting-edge technology, featuring its own Zen gardens, organic sushi restaurant and traditional Japanese hot spring." That sounds...well, it sounds just lovely, actually.

Aside from the first tidbits of mission information included in the announcement, the most interesting aspect of this reveal is certainly this quote from IO Studio Head Hannes Seifert included at the end:

"Together we've built and run the biggest and most replayable locations of any Hitman game and added new live content every single week since launch. And although we’re now completing season one, this is only the beginning for our ever expanding World of Assassination.”

That would seem to indicate that Hitman may remain an episodic game following the completion of this first season. It would hardly be surprising if that proves to be the case given the number of advantages this format offers the Hitman developers in terms of crafting each level and responding to player feedback. Of course, the decision will likely be determined by how financially successful this final episode and the rest of Season One proves to be.
