Brother, can you spare half-a-million dollars?

You know, it's hard enough to get by in this world financially speaking without insanely creative people tempting us with their impractical, but highly desirable, creations.

For instance, the good folks at Mako Mod, a custom console manufacturer based out of Spain, have gone ahead and created the absolute coolest Legend of Zelda-inspired custom NES that's ever been made. Before you label such a title as hyperbole, consider that this console is designed to resemble a wood-grained chest, is fully functional, and is topped off by a levitating Tri-Force.

Seriously, it actually levitates.

The effect is generated by a complicated series of technologies that include electromagnetic field manipulation and "near-field" wireless transmissions. Science specifics aside, what it all adds up to is a glowing Tri-Force replica that hovers alluringly right above the console itself. The effect is jaw-dropping.

Sadly, so is the price. While Mako Mod has no intention of mass marketing this modification, they have recently decided to auction off this one model on eBay. Don't get too excited, however, as the current highest bid is €420,000 ($463,050) and climbing. This puts the console comfortably into that "supervillain-rich" tier of consumer purchases.

If that price point breaks your heart as it should, then it may interest you to know that Mako Mod does take custom modification requests. However, given that even the paint jobs are of the "price available on request" design, then you should still expect to pay a premium for any work that comes from the studio.

Hmm...instead, it would probably be best to browse their Facebook page and simply admire the incredible skills these artists possess while you calculate just how grand of a heist it would take to be able to afford that Okami PlayStation 2.
