Clothes are just as valuable as bullets in this intriguing add-on.

Citing a desire to fix some of the game's lingering issues, Ubisoft announced back in August that they would be delaying further content releases for The Division. Now that recent patches have helped address some of the game's most notorious issues, Ubisoft and developer Massive Entertainment finally gave us an in-depth look at the Survival expansion for The Division that was revealed during E3.
Survival represents a fairly drastic departure from nearly everything that fans of The Division have come to associate with the game thus far. This expansion will add an optional new mode to the game called Survival that sees players thrust into a blizzard ravaged version of New York City after their helicopter crashes and leaves them stranded. As the mode's name suggests, this incident leaves the player in a disadvantageous position to survive by depriving them of most of their equipment and resources.
It gets worse. Your character awakens from the crash in desperate need of food, warmth, water and medicine. As such, you must seek out what few supplies are scattered across the city in order to satisfy your basic needs. As you may imagine, this process is complicated by the fact that 23 other players are in the same situation looking for the same supplies.
Besides contributing to your rapidly approaching death, these needs will each affect the gameplay in some way. For instance, being hungry means you gain health back slower while thirst limits your awareness. As for being cold, that will just kill you slowly. Fortunately, most items in the game have been modified to include a new warmth rating and you can always seek the temporary refuge of burning barrels.
The end goal of the Survival mode is to reach the Dark Zone at the center of the map and retrieve the medicine you need.
While some are able to play this impressive overhaul today as part of a PC preview event, most people will have to wait until Survival is official released. Unfortunately, there is no word on when that may happen.
