Jedi-flavored shooter Star Wars Battlefrontis now a year old, and much has changed since it first emerged last November. Previous expansions have taken us to Bespin's Cloud City, the Death Star, and Jabba the Hutt's Palace, while the likes of Chewbacca, Greedo, and Lando Calrissian have been added to the playable character line-up.
This December's Scarif DLC - the fourth lump of content coming from EA - might prove to be the most intriguing of all. That's because it's based on Rogue One, Gareth Edwards' much-anticipated Star Wars spin-off about the brave souls who stole the plans to the original Death Star. EA announced Scarif back in the summer, but it's only now that we've learned more about what the DLC will actually contain.
The publisher's announced that four maps will come as part of the package, with one of those maps being the planet of the DLC's title - the sandy, tropical Scarif, which also happens to be an Imperial stronghold. As described on Battlefront's website, it's the place where AT-ACTs stomp about in those Rogue One trailers. Like previous Battlefront add-ons, Scarif also adds two new playable characters, the Empire's Orson Krennic (played in the movie by Ben Mendelsohn) and Rebel heroine Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones).

EA hasn't yet revealed where the other three maps will take place, though we're guessing one of them will be located on Jedha, an Empire-occupied desert moon that is also home to the first Jedi temple.
As well as the Scarif DLC, this December also sees the release of Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission for the PlayStation's VR headset. "This free DLC gives you control of your very own X-wing in a fully-immersive virtual reality - brush up on your piloting skills, stay on target, and prepare to jump through hyperspace as you carry out an important mission for the Rebellion," the official description reads.
Both bits of content are scheduled for launch on Dec. 6 for Battlefront season pass owners - just 10 days before the release of Rogue One in cinemas.
As you may have heard, Scarif and VR Mission are the final hurrah for Battlefront, as EA doubles its efforts on getting Battlefront 2 ready for this time next year. With the release of the shooter sequel timed to coincide with Star Wars Episode VIII, we'll probably hear more about it in the spring.
