The Walking Dead: A New Frontier Story

Here's the official synopsis from Telltale:

When family is all you have left... how far will you go to protect it? Four years after society was ripped apart by undead hands, pockets of civilization emerge from the chaos. But at what cost? Can the living be trusted on this new frontier? As Javier, a young man determined to find the family taken from him, you meet a young girl who has experienced her own unimaginable loss. Her name is Clementine, and your fates are bound together in a story where every choice you make could be your last.

The Walking Dead: A New Frontier Details

During an announcement at the developer's PAX panel, it was confirmed that the upcoming season will begin a few years after where Season Two of the series left off. This third season will focus on protagonist Clementine and a new character named Javier as they wade once more into the zombie apocalypse in search of food, sanctuary, and hope.

Telltale Games executive producer elaborated on the relationship between these two characters by revealing that a prominent subplot in the game will revolve around Javier trying to uncover the details of Clementine's unfortunate past. The pair share many personality similarities due to their similar backgrounds, but appear to be separated somewhat by their survival abilities. Indeed, it's interesting to see Clementine take on the role of post-apocalyptic protector after having witnessed father figure Lee take on that role in the first Walking Dead season. Fans will be able to play as both Clementine and Javier at various points in The Walking Dead: Season Three.

Those that love and/or hate the Telltale formula can also expect The Walking Dead: Season Three to retain many of the developer's trademark elements. Telltale recently confirmed that it currently has no plans of altering the studio's choice-based gameplay design in any significant way. The recently released first episode of Batman proved there is still some storytelling life left in the formula, but it remains to be seen if the aging Walking Dead franchise can still effectively utilize that design to provide something great.
