Nostalgia to go.

Just minutes ago, Capcom confirmed via the Capcom Mobile Twitter account that the first six Mega Man games will be coming to iOS and Android in January.

The link included in the studio's tweet takes you to a simple registration page where you are able to enter your personal information in order to be notified of the games' eventual release date and related special offers.

A separate press release that Capcom has sent out regarding the upcoming mobile Mega Man titles reveals that the games are expected to release in early January "just a few weeks" after the birthday of the first Mega Man game, which debuted on December 17, 1987. The wording of the press release does seem to imply that these games will be launched for iOS and Android simultaneously, but that has not been confirmed at this time.

What has been confirmed is that the games will be available to download for $1.99 each when they do launch. It's worth noting that Capcom mobile ports released for iOS in the past (such as Mega Man X) have charged users an up-front cost and offered microtransactions in the form of non-essential character and item boosts. Whether or not these latest games will adhere to a similar pricing structure has not been officially confirmed by Capcom, but Famitsu is reporting that each title will offer players the chance to purchase options such as auto-fire and adjustable game speed.

The first six Mega Man titles represent the heroes' complete NES adventures. This is not the first time that Capcom has re-released these titles, though it is the first time that they will be available for mobile devices. While Capcom has typically stuck with iOS as their mobile platform of choice, the Android version of these Mega Man games does suggest that they are willing to expand their operations as part of their recently confirmed efforts to revitalize certain classic franchises
