Prey Release Date

Prey is set to release in 2017. The game is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Prey Trailer

Arkane Studios made an appearance at The Game Awards to show off a bit of gameplay from the upcoming sci-fi shooter Prey. Introduced in the trailer are the game's creepy alien enemies, which are made up of weird black tendrils. Many of the weapons and tools were also showcased in the trailer, including the foam gun, which allows players to create walkways. There are also more traditional weapons, such as the shotgun, pistol, and a grenade that sucks up enemies.

This next Prey trailer is all about the history of Talos I, the main setting of the upcoming sci-fi game. You can watch the trailer below:

Another Prey trailer features the female variation of main character Morgan Yu. The trailer is almost exactly like the one released earlier this year at QuakeCon. Check it out below:

Two other trailers for Prey were shown at Quakecon that showed off two very different sides of the game.

The first is your standard gameplay trailer that does finally give us an idea of what Prey will deliver in the gameplay department. It's not exact gameplay footage, but there's certainly a BioShock/Deus Ex vibe about the whole thing.

The other video is a bit more obscure. It's another developer diary that seems to indicate that the announcement trailer for Prey is hiding secrets that will reveal more about the game when they are discovered. In particular, it seems the game's coffee cup is hiding something substantial.

Bethesda and developer Arkane Studios shared details about their upcoming Prey reboot for the first time since E3 2016 in this recently uploaded video titled "What is Prey?"

According to this video, developer Arkane Studios considers Prey to be more of a re-imagining of the original title than a sequel or traditional remake. They plan on implementing many of their trademark elements into the game (including choices and consequences), but will be sure to also include certain iconic elements from the original such as its inventive weapons.

Still, the video does make it clear this is going to be a much different take on the Prey concept. The game's atmosphere is described as more psychological than traditional sci-fi horror, and Arkane seems especially interested in moving away from the more traditional shooter gameplay elements of the original title and towards a mix of action and RPG elements.

While there's still much about Prey that we've yet to really hear about, this video does give us a much more clear picture of what the game will focus on than we had coming out of E3 2016.

You can find the game's reveal trailer below:

This beautiful, trailer showcases a man named Morgan going about his daily life. Before long, however, our hero is thrust into a fight for his life as demonic forces surround him in a sci-fi environment. Morgan is seemingly able to fend them off with his shotgun and melee tools, though this preview suggests that a much darker force is at play as Morgan is overcome with a shadowy substance and told by a mysterious voice that he is not going to like what he hears next.

The creative sci-fi stylings that made Prey such a notable entry in the genre are clearly evident in this teaser, though there are elements of games like The Darkness found throughout the preview.

Prey Story

In the alternate future of Prey, President Kennedy survives the assassination, which sets off a turn of events leading to the central conflict. After recovering from the attempt on his life, Kennedy threw his nation further into the space race by taking control of a U.S./Russian joint program and transforming a Russian satellite into a fully functional R&D facility meant to study non-terrestrials. This facility later became Talos I, a highly advanced space station owned by the TranStar Corporation.

In the few years since TranStar took over, the station has been used as the testing ground for some morally dubious experiments, with people on board serving as subjects – people like Morgan Yu. After awakening on Talos I, Morgan finds the station overrun by a previously contained non-terrestrial entity called Typhon, which the scientists had been studying and using to improve the scope of human abilities. Aided by strange alien-based powers, Morgan must survive the incursion, uncover the mysteries surrounding the Typhon and save humanity from the impending danger aboard the station.
