Fire your weapons to the beat of this Chroma, a unique game with a dub-step soundtrack!
Harmonix Music Systems, the developer behind such mega hits as Dance Central and Rock Band, have announced an ambitious new gaming project this morning: a first-person shooter called Chroma that’s completely driven by the game’s own soundtrack.
As players partake in the high-octane and futuristic FPS multiplayer battles, they’ll need to be ever mindful of the changing musical overlays, as they can fire their weapons to the song’s rhythm for a greater attack power and other interesting effects.
The game is also being developed in conjunction with Hidden Path Entertainment, who happens to know a thing or two about the FPS genre from their past work making Counter Strike: Global Offensive.
The debut announcement trailer dances back and forth between soothing piano-driven lullabies and head-banging dub-step for when the shooting kicks in. Despite still being in its early development stages, there’s no denying what a unique idea that Chroma is: after all, when’s the last time you heard the phrase “Rock Band/FPS” hybrid before in conversation?
Well the good news is that you can try a pre-alpha build of the game right now by heading over to the official Chromawebsite. A closed alpha is expected to follow at the end of the month, with an official beta coming sometime later on this year.
