There's a group of League of Legends fans that set out to create a 2D fighting video game based on the game. Now, Riot Games, owners of the League of Legends license, has given the okay for the group to create what they're calling League of Fighters.
Instaburst, as the group has named their development company, will bring classic moves from the MOBA to their 2D fighting title, as shown in their first trailer for the game, below.
Instaburst promises it will be Free to Play (they can't profit from the game), and also state that the game will have a single player mode, and local and online multiplayer.
This is a very exciting project, and I can't wait to get my hands on League of Fighters. I love League of Legends, and I sure as hell love 2D fighters, so hopefully a wedding between the two will be magical. I also love how the folks at Instaburst have been secretly developing the game, and THEN got Riot Games' approval. Great job, Instaburst!
