Now that all other versions of the game will be shipping later this month, Watch Dogs Wii U has been made the top priority.
Back when the November 2013 release of Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs was unexpectedly delayed to the murky depths of Q2 2014, it was also noted that the Wii U version of the game had been delayed even further to an unspecified date. Well now that the anticipated open world hacking game is finally gearing up to release at the end of this month on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, Ubisoft is now putting all of the focus on getting the Wii U version out the door.
Watch Dogs creative director Jonathan Morin has confirmed as much to Red Bull, stating that his team are “all fully focused on the Wii U version [of Watch Dogs], making sure it gets the attention it deserves to make it the best version it can be.” Although there’s no mention yet of when exactly Wii U owners will get to play Watch Dogs, my personal estimate would be sometime later this fall, and definitely before the end of 2014.

Well at least Ubisoft is still holding up their promise and actually releasing the game on Nintendo’s Wii U, when so many other big-name publishers are bypassing the struggling system entirely with their latest multiplatform releases. I, for one, am excited to see if this game actually lives up to all of this insurmountable hype, especially with the somewhat worrying news that it wasn’t even playable at this year’s PAX East.
