Sony's showing at Gamescom was impressive, possibly stealing the show with plenty of reveals...
Gamescom has seen quite a few interesting announcements from Sony, which some would say has only increased the gap between the PlayStation manufacturer and its arch rival, Microsoft.
Games were the focus, of course, and here Sony hit the ball out of the park, announcing new IPs, including Michel Ancel's Wild,The Tomorrow Children from PixelJunk's developer, Alienationfrom Housemarque, and Hellbladefrom Heavenly Sword developer, Ninja Theory. There was also the fright-fest that is P.T. This has been revealed via NeoGAF to be a new Silent Hill game involving Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro, as well as Walking Dead star Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon). This could be good.
Alongside the new titles Sony also demonstrated still to come known titles, DriveCluband Bloodborne, as well as Vita title, Tearaway, and announced that smash hit Steam Early Access title, DayZ, is coming to the PS4.

On the hardware side, it was revealed that PlayStation TVwill launch in November, and PlayStation Now in 2015, arriving in Britain for the beta. Sony also revealed that the PS4 has now sold in excess of 10 million units. That's quite a lot.
This all amounted to a very strong showing for Sony, and one that met the challenge of Microsoft head on, even if the Xbox has snatched a certain Ms Croft all for itself.
