The chaotic action sandbox opus Just Cause 3 is out this week. Here's a brand new gameplay trailer...

Trailer

Just Cause 3 is big. How big? Really big. Bigger than big, in fact [Get on with it - Ed.] Okay, Just Cause 3's action takes place over a 400 square mile map. That's really, really big.

To prove it, Avalanche has released the new gameplay trailer below, which shows off the Medici island Just Cause 3's players will be liberating through such activities as fighter jet surfing and the demolition of expensive landsmarks. As you can see, it all looks really pretty, from the snow on the island's highest peaks to the sun glinting off its beaches.

We don't have long to wait, either: Just Cause 3 is out on Dec. 1 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. That's tomorrow, calendar fans. Hurrah!

Original Story 06.06.15:

We've been waiting for some time now for a new look at Avalanche Games'Just Cause 3 in action, thanks to E3.

Now, finally, it's here - a gameplay trailer launched with surprisingly little fanfare. Nevertheless, it's Just Causeas we all recognise it - a dervish of absurdly over the top stunts and explosions that make Michael Bay's back catalogue look like a joke.

Avalanche Studios' Just Cause games turn destruction into something approaching an artform. With the previous two games providing a wealth of tools to play with - a grappling hook, a parachute, dozens of guns - the experience was akin to improvising your own Jerry Bruckheimer movie. Where else could you tether an exploding gas canister to a bad guy's vehicle, or surf on the wing of a soaring fighter jet?

While we only know a few precise details about Just Cause 3 at the time of writing - the return of series hero Rico Rodriguez, plus a more varied "volumetric" terrain of caverns and tall buildings - the emphasis is clearly still on wildly over-the-top action.

Just Cause 3 is scheduled for December 1st for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
