Update 1 - 09.14.16

That mysterious project Edmund McMillen teased earlier in the year is now official.

It's called 0uroboros (with a zero in the beginning), and McMillen says that is will star the same main character from an earlier game he worked on, Time Fcuk, but isn't otherwise directly related to that title.

Instead, he describes it as...you know, we honestly can't do his description proper justice, so, instead, here is the full text for your viewing pleasure:

"The best way to describe it would probably be like if you took Mega Man, tossed him out of a moving car so fast it caused a tear in time and space that pulled our existence inside out. your guts being on the outside of your body would make it a lot easier to slide under doors and through the cracks in the sidewalk. writhing in pain as you slide deeper inside the earth, only to find yourself smashed against the veiny eyeball stalks of another iteration of you that seems to have slipped down here years ago. you guys have a long talk about your aches and pains but are suddenly interrupted by the gooey paper thin body of some other guy who looks exactly like you and your new best friend. Who the fuck are you buddy?' you ask him… no reply."

McMileen also provides a more traditional explanation of 0uroboros by calling it an action-based platformer/shooter with random levels, but that lacks the same punch that his spiritual analysis provides. There's no information available regarding a release date, but you can view the game's latest trailer below:

Original Story - 07.28.16

Given that his most famous creation is itself an infamously cryptic title full of dreadful wonder, perhaps it should come as no surprise that The Binding of Issac's creative lead Edmund McMillen is being a bit coy as it concerns the details of his next game.

In a post on the official Binding of Issac blog in which McMillen updated fans to some of the features and items they can expect to see in the upcoming Binding of Issac DLC Afterbirth+, McMillen casually included a 16-second YouTube clip that shows off a little of a previously unannounced game.

Have a look:

If you're currently wondering "What was that?" then know you're not alone. McMillen included no further details regarding this game in his blog post, leaving us to wonder what exactly this rotating action-adventure title with an oddly familiar soundtrack is all about. What we do know based on the trailer, though, is that this game does not appear to be related to McMillen's previously announced The Legend of Bum-bo, which was revealed to be a turn-based puzzle RPG.

Eurogamer reached out to McMillen for more details and were able to confirm that this is indeed a separate project that is currently only set to be released for PC and Mac. McMillen did note, however, that nobody is ruling out the possibility of a console release down the line.

The game has no name as of yet but was described as a "Mega Man / Isaac-like" platformer with tight controls. Furthermore, the title is being developed alongside the upcoming The Legend of Bum-bo and neither is expected to interfere with the progress of the other. McMillen is unsure which will be available first, but mentioned that one will likely follow the other by a couple of months in order to space their releases out a bit.

Given how little is being revealed about this game thus far, we see no reason why you shouldn't let the wild speculation concerning this project begin now in the comments below.
